A facility where low-income residents from throughout the Northern Virginia region can access oral health care services. Their mission is the establishment of a health care dental facility in which volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, and auxiliaries can provide health care services for the indigent population of Northern Virginia. Their goal is to determine the current state of oral health of each individual referred to the clinic, develop a detailed treatment plan, and return each individual to an infection free and functional state of oral health.
In response to the lack of access to care and the resulting poor oral health of thousands of indigent Virginians, the Virginia Dental Association Foundation launched the Mission of Mercy (MOM) and began to "make caring visible." The Mission of Mercy projects are conducted in identified, underserved areas of the state where there are not enough dental practitioners to adequately address the oral health needs of the community. Any individual who is able to show up on site is considered eligible. Our intentions are not to judge, but rather to serve.
Mission of Mercy clinics are set-up in locations easily accessible to all populations that live in a specific geographical area. Patient transportation, if needed, is arranged through community partnerships to provide shuttle transportation.

The purpose of Give Kids a Smile is to enhance the oral health care of large numbers of needy children and to highlight, for policy makers, the on-going challenges low income and disabled children face in accessing dental care.
